According to media, Homosexuals have no place in Heaven

There is still a lot of debate concerning the controversy of whether homosexuality is genetic or simply a choice. But one thing is crystal clear, religion and homosexuality do not mix any more than water with oil. When all else seems to fail, society falls back on the one thing it can find comfort in...namely religion. the above picture is an example of how media is effectively trying to alienate gay people from religion all together. what could be the solution to this? is it too late to do anything? and could this possibly end sometime in the future?

  1. I cannot fully understand the question.

"When all else seems to fail, society falls back on the one thing it can find comfort in...namely religion."

So, people are turning to religion to find an excuse to hate on homosexuals?

"the above picture is an example of how media is effectively trying to alienate gay people from religion all together."

Are you trying to say that society is pushing gays away from religion? The above picture looks like it is trying to attracts gays to religion.

Sorry, I just do not understand the post clearly.

  2. Firstly, to clarify your question what I mean is that when trying to justify alot of the hate towards homosexuality, people often use religion as a means to ''push'' them away. how many homosexual religious people do you know for instance?

Secondly, when people pray something away, that something is usually harmfull or evil correct?. so the above picture presents homosexuality as simply a problem that needs praying away.

  4. First off, religion has nothing to do with hate. Many religions such as Islam, Christianity, Judaism etc, are about peace and tolerance towards people of different faiths and sexualities. Now that being said, homosexuality is not something that is promoted nor encouraged by many mainstream religions, but a moderate religious person will tell you that even though homosexuality is not deemed acceptable, a person has no right to use Gods' universal ethics and morals as a means to harm or threaten others.

I agree with your statement that, "when trying to justify alot of the hate towards homosexuality, people often use religion as a means to ''push'' them away". There are better ways to debate, disagree and get your point across without resorting to verbal or physical abuse, especially when discussing a tense topic like homosexuality. On a side note, can someone please make a post thats not about homosexuality in the media and its stereotypes because its getting repetative.

  5. I could not agree more with your comment ''a person has no right to use God's universal ethics and morals as a means to harm or threaten''. But even so there is no denying that this sis till a recurring problem and we can only hope for it to absolve in the future.

  6. I agree with anas comment because in some religions homosexual is not allowed and also saw on the news CCN that some religious churches beat up people for being homosexual and that this beatings makes then frightened and not gay any more

  7. Granit is right... many religions do speak about peace and tolerence between different people and culture; but I would like to ad that it is how people interpret the script that causes these people to say that "the bible has no place for gays". This is something that cannot be changed as everyone has a different and unique way of looking at these things.

  8. The biggest opposition to homosexuality is religion because all the major/biggest religions at this time are strongly apposing homosexuality. But I don’t think that it will change that much through out the years.

  9. In my opinion I think there really is no solution to this controversy. The fact that religion was just passed from generation to generation, and to alter that would be very difficult, because the elder generations wouldn't be able to cope with it. Therefore it's a little too late to make any changes. But that doesn't mean they can't try. I've read a little about how to become Christian, and from the several resources I've read I didn't find any that said we don't accept homosexuals. Mainly it was more about believing that Jesus sacrificed his life for all the sins we do. (correct me if I'm wrong, because I'm not Christian)

  10. More religions try to convert gays to heterosexuality, rather than insulting them like most of you stated.

  11. ^ So trying to convert homosexuals to heterosexuality is not an insult itself? There has to be some reason to convert, and the religious logic behind that is being homosexual is immoral and inhuman. That's an insult as it is.

  12. Hassan's comment brings us back to where I began. That homosexuality is viewed to be immoral and inhuman by religion and as such not deserving of heaven.

  13. Homo or Hetero two different things and two different meanings. Religions are there to bring peace and prosparity in an society and not be the cause of differences. People do try to change Heterosexual to Homosexual as it is thought to be "Common".

  14. What does this have to do with how homossexuality is viewed in the media?Lets not go off topic, for fear of offending someone.

  15. Im just wondering why opposing beliefs about religion or science must always come up when talking about this topic. There are ways to view things with an objective lens.

  16. People will always have a different way of viewing the word ''normal'', it is in people being willing to compromise with eachother and accept each individuals ideas and perspective, that we will find the solution to society's problems.

  17. Many mainstream religions go against homosexuality, and the priests, imams, rabis, etc preach the message that being gay is a sin. Will cause many to have negative views on the sexual orientation. Also challenging mainstream religions is very difficult, so it will take time before gays and lesbians to get treated well.
