Celebrities can be homosexuals ?
So I was watching t.v. the other day, and I came across one of my favorite talk shows. Ellen ! Yes the great Ellen. For those who may not know, she's a lesbian talk show host. One of the most richest women living today. How do you think the media accepted her as being lesbian? Was it because she was rich ? Same question goes for the other lesbian celebrities out there. Why is that the media accepts them ? Or do they not? Like Lady GaGa ?!?! My thought is that since most celebrities that are comfortable sharing their orientation are females that it is okay for the media to accept that. But if it was to be some sort of male celeb then the whole media would go crazy !

I think that accepting lesbians here and there would be a profit to the media. It is scheme to cover the pregidous society they have created. I even think that it would be an advantage to them financially. Think of it this way, a lesbian woman would get more publicity/attention when she is basically one of the only ones on the media. More followers equals more money into the pockets of the elite.

ReplyDeleteLet’s veer off course from celebrities, and focus on TV show hosts like Ellen for a moment. Why is it that Ellen can have more freedom in terms of sexual orientation than ordinary people? Simple; it's because TV show hosts like Ellen are seen as infallible. Their personalities center on being warm, kind, caring, benevolent etc. Generally, people see them as the voice of reason, and due to this unarguable fact, they gain more freedom in terms of what their image should be. This includes their sexual orientation, and because of this Ellen has gained the freedom that allows her to be publically accepted as a gay woman. Remember, what I'm saying only applies to "benevolent" TV show hosts like Ellen, Oprah, etc, and should not be applied to celebrities, because they are not necessarily viewed as infallible, due to media always trying to pick out their faults.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Hassan and referring to Ms. Drapers comment about the monkeys name, although this is the first time I have heard of it, Ricky Martin was made to appear as being a homosexual because his Record Company convinced him that neither denying it nor confirming it, would help his album sales, so people just assumed he was a homosexual. So ya, Ricky Martin is straight. I just blew your mind :)
